Spiraling Up

Dimensions of Light

In our ongoing process of spiritual growth, we are called to discover more light within ourselves and more light within the world. As we expand our light, we experience a natural longing to reach higher dimensional states that contain new and different qualities of light.

Most people are stuck in the third dimension where their light is heavy and dense. When we have a disease or unhealthy pattern, the light of our aura becomes temporarily clouded and muddy. In the density of the third dimension, our light is opaque, like flat paint.

Keep the Baby

Keep The Baby

As we grow and evolve, we rise to new energetic levels at which things have to change in order for us to keep spiraling up. It seems as if the old ways no longer fit us, even when they once provided great support and were once a great passion for us. I have learned in these times to pause and get really clear about what to let go of, what to keep, and what to transform.

Once when I was preparing to go to India for a three-week training, my mentor gave me advice that has helped me remain clear about this process.

Catfish Story

My partner, Andre, has a lovely aquarium full of fish. He feeds them twice a day and enjoys watching them chase after their food. He talks to them and checks to make sure they are all healthy and happy.

Last summer, the big catfish disappeared. At first we though he might be hiding inside the artificial hollow rock structure. But he was not coming out to eat, not even when Andre tried to coax him out with shrimp pellets, his favorite food. There was no sign of him. After a few weeks without seeing him, Andre concluded that he had died and that the other fish had perhaps eaten him.

A Pearl of Wisdom for the New Year

Meet Pearl. She is one of my greatest teachers. Trust me when I tell you that it was not easy getting her to sit still for this head-shot. She reminds me to be active, to play often, and to maintain high levels of enthusiasm in all that I do. I recently gave her an almost-empty peanut-butter jar. I thought she would enjoy licking out the remains. As you can see, Pearl has a smashed-flat face. Her tongue is not terribly long and it does not hang out of her mouth, not even when she pants. I figured she would maybe be able to get to the peanut butter in the top quarter of the jar.

The Star of Bethlehem

I remember being fascinated in Sunday school about the magical star that led the three wise men to the Christ child. The story did not make sense to my conscious mind—how could a star lead the way? But somehow the three kings followed this blaze of light that appeared out of the darkness. And it guided them to discover a birth that was precious and radiant and filled with hope.

Ever since my earliest memories, I have seen a bright white light inside my head when I close my eyes. It is not there all of the time.

Blessings of Gratitude

Thanksgiving Prayer

This morning I am filled with gratitude for my soul path. Holidays are a time when we experience flashes of memory about our past: what we did on this same day so many years ago, who we were with, what we were feeling at the time. For me this mini life-review serves as a reminder of how far I have come and how much I have changed. I am counting my blessings and there are so many blessings to count.
I remember many Thanksgivings when gratitude was not so easily within my reach.

Freedom to Be As Is

Do you ever get stuck in wanting things to be perfect—so stuck that you stop sharing your gifts with others? I recently had a huge lesson around this which I would like to share with you.
A couple of months ago, I was approached by a newspaper reporter who wanted to do a story about me for the Arkansas Times.  His mother had heard me speak at a Conscious Awareness Network meeting and she recommended me to him as a subject for a column about people with interesting personal stories.

All Can Heal

Today is Mardi Gras, a day of festive celebration. Having lived 42 years in the great city of New Orleans, I am flooded with happy memories of wearing costumes, eating king cake, marching in parades, dancing in the streets to the Mardi Gras Mambo, and shouting, "Throw me something, Mister!" for beads and doubloons.
My plan was to stay in the Big Easy--at some level don't we all wish for this?Sometimes Spirit has a different plan.
I was at a healing conference in Hot Springs, Arkansas when the unthinkable devastation of Hurricane Katina occurred.

Heart of All

Heart Felt Message
Valentine's Day, 2014

The ALL is everything that Is. This moment. Now. The Brilliance that uplifts. The shadow that offers lessons. All aspects pulsing in this moment. Always stretching us. Holding us. Supporting us. Providing exactly what we need in every moment. Calling us to fall deep into the Heart of God.
It is always there for us, waiting, holding space for our return. We can resist or we can embrace. We can deny or we can experience. Still it calls us home, waiting in eternal patience for us to understand that we are loved.

New Year's Message

New Year's Message
Jan. 1, 2014

Dear 2013 and the lovely people who shared it with me,
Thank you for an amazing year. I am grateful for so many things. It has been an honor to witness the old structures falling away as the beautiful new paradigm takes root and begins to bloom.
What freedom comes as we gain awareness that the old ways no longer work. The energies of hierarchical dominance, manipulation, force, and control are losing the grip they once had over us. As we naturally open our hearts more and more, we turn away from organizations that operate under these old energies.
